About this event

The global coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the UK Government's developing plans to deal with it and sensible precautions by the UK business sector oblige us to suspend our plans for an LBBC, UKIHMA and DIT conference on Healthcare in Libya in June 2020.

Should the Government's expectations of the potential spread, severity and impact of the virus allow it to adapt its plans, we will review the situation with our partners and sponsors.

In the meantime, we are investigating alternative dates on the current assumption that it will be necessary to postpone the event beyond the summer.

We look forward to welcoming delegates and will post dates as soon as circumstances allow.

The organisers will be in direct contact with confirmed delegates and speakers.  Please contact events@lbbc.org.uk if you have any questions or concerns.

The conference will address the immediate requirements and future prospects of the Libyan healthcare sector and will be informed by a sector in market feasibility study funded by the DIT.

The programme will also discuss the political and security context for healthcare supply and identify ways to address and minimise risk and ensure payment for goods and services supplied.

The programme will also focus on follow on B2B meetings to discuss business opportunities and partnerships identified at the conference.

The conference follows on from a healthcare workshop held in Tunis on 19 November 2019 as part of the programme of an LBBC Business Delegation. The report of the workshop and the list of participants records that Libyan public and private sector attendees registered their keen interest in doing business with UK suppliers of medicines, equipment and services.

The national appetite for healthcare products is high and is currently served by a range of European and regional suppliers. Although Libyan consumers place a premium on UK products, they reportedly complain that these products are scarce, if not absent from the market.

Organised by

The LBBC was established in 2004 to promote business relations and commercial activity between the British and Libyan business communities. We achieve this primarily through the provision of trade development initiatives and networking opportunities for our Council and Corporate Members, which include some of the UK’s leading corporations and represent every major industrial sector.
